Proofreading

This is a guide to help you do proofreading for Bible4kidz.

First of all you need to have an account at crowdin. Create an account by signing up. When you have confirmed your account, you can go to the project page: https://crowdin.com/project/bible4kidz

On this page you see all the languages that are currently been working on.

If you have got permission to proofread, then you can jump to the next section

To get permission

Find the language you are going to proofread and ask for permission to join. Click on the join button and complete the process.

You cannot do any proofreading before you get permission.

Proofreading

To get this view, you have to click on the small arrowhead at the right side of a language, after the text words. Then this view will open.

Then click on the Proofread button.

Then you will get this view:

In the left column you will see all the text strings that needs to be proofread.

The red arrow points to an indicator which is blue. That indicates that the text is translated.

The actual proofreading is done in the middle column:

On the top you have the source string, then there are context to help you what it is and where in the app it is used.

Then you have the box(red square) with the translated text where you can edit the text, if it has any spell errors or context errors. You can do that directly in the text(1). When you are finished editing the text, it is very important to save the changes. Click the SAVE button(2).

If the translation is correct, you can then click the approve button(3). It is very important to approve the correct translation so that the indicator changes from translated to approved. Then it is possible to know when the proofreading is finished. You will also automatically go to next text string which is not proofread next time in.

Below the text edit field marked with a red square, you will find the different translation done with this text string. So if you find an error and save it and later find another error, you will see the history here. You will also see the different computer suggested translation here.

If you don’t understand the meaning of the English source text, you can see the translation from other languages at the bottom. Click on the Other languages.

On the top of the page there are two completion numbers. In this view there is a blue 100% complete translation indicator and a green 0% compete approved/ proofread indicator.

If you have any question or something is unclear. You can contact me in crowdin. Click on my profile icon and there you can send a direct message to me.

Tips & tricks when proofread

Some places you will find a \n in the text. This is used by the code in the app to indicate a new line.

If a source text starts and ends with a , the translated text also needs to start and end with a . Often will the computer translation skip the end , the add a at the end.
